Robert Ferguson (born 1948) is a British writer and historian, specializing in Viking history. He has resided in Norway since 1983 and studied Norwegian literature. Ferguson is known for his biographies of Norwegian icons Knut Hamsun (1987) and Henrik Ibsen (1996), and also wrote a biography of Henry Miller in 1991. He has authored novels and plays, winning the BBC/Methuen Award twice for best radio drama. His 2009 work 'The Hammer and the Cross' discusses the conversion of Vikings to Christianity.
