Roger Idiart was a Basque author and priest born on January 15, 1931, in Azkaine, Lapurdi. He was also a member of Euskaltzaindia. Idiart wrote songs, verses, and pastorals, contributing significantly to Basque literature. Ordained in 1955, he served as a teacher in seminaries and as a rector in various locations, dedicating much of his life to religious and cultural activities. He participated in meetings about the Basque language in 1963-64 and published several works in various periodicals. His notable pastorals include 'Xalbador pastorala' (1991) and 'Etxahun Iruri: pastorala' (2001).
