Ronald Allan Palenski was a prominent New Zealand journalist and sportsman, born in Dunedin on March 31, 1945. He began his journalism career at The Evening Star and later worked for the New Zealand Press Association and The Dominion. Palenski founded and managed the New Zealand Sports Hall of Fame from 1998 until shortly before his death. He was honored as an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit in 2003 and inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame in 2022. He authored around 50 books, primarily focused on sports and New Zealand history.
