Ron Thorsen, born on April 13, 1949, is a Canadian basketball player and coach noted for his leadership as captain of the Canada men's national basketball team in the 1970s. He achieved significant accolades, including being a three-time First Team All-Canadian and breaking numerous scoring records at the University of British Columbia (UBC). Thorsen is also recognized as the only UBC player drafted into the NBA and won three CIAU national championships, two as a player and one while coaching the UBC women's team.
