Ronald de Levington Kirkbride (1912-1973) was a Canadian author known for his escapist romances, Westerns, and mystery novels. His most famous work, A Girl Named Tamiko, published in 1959, achieved significant success with over one million copies sold and inspired a 1962 film adaptation. Kirkbride wrote more than two dozen novels, including The Private Life of Guy de Maupassant and The Short Night, which was considered for adaptation by Alfred Hitchcock. His diverse literary contributions made him a notable figure in Canadian literature.
