She married Swedish illustrator Olle Eksell and had a daughter named Mausel. After moving to Berlin in her youth and then to Sweden in 1939, Eksell pursued artistic education equivalent to Sweden's Konstfack. She worked at Åhlén & Åkerlunds Annonsservice, and later the couple studied design in the USA before returning to Stockholm to work.
