Sara Nišmit (born 12 March 1913 in Sejny, Poland; died 22 September 2008 in Kibbutz Lochamej ha-Geta'ot, Israel) was an Israeli writer originally named Sara Šnerová. During World War II, she served as a nurse for a Soviet partisan group after escaping a Nazi labor camp. Post-war, she worked with her husband Cvi Šner in a museum where he was director for 34 years. Nišmit authored various books focusing on Jewish suffering during the war, with her notable work being 'Children from Mapa Street' (1970), which fictionalizes the terror faced by Jews in Kaunas, Lithuania.
