General Satchit Shamsher Jang Bahadur Rana (1934-2007) served as the chief of the Nepalese Army from 1987 to 1991. He joined the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in Britain in 1953 and was commissioned into the Nepalese Army on July 22, 1955. After a 36-year career, he retired on May 15, 1991. Following his retirement, he was appointed ambassador of Nepal to Burma (now Myanmar) and also served as the ambassador to Vietnam.
