Born in Al-Wasta, Beni Suef, he presented a Marxist view of Islamic history but identified as a follower of Mu'tazilism. His outspoken critiques of political Islam earned him both praise and accusations of heresy. Notable works include 'Lord of this Time', which led to significant backlash from Islamic institutions. Al-Qemany faced numerous threats due to his writings, particularly after his 2004 article condemning political Islam following the Taba bombings.
