Shep was a Border Collie who served as the beloved Blue Peter dog from 1971 until his departure in 1978 when presenter John Noakes left the show. Known for his excitable nature, Shep became famous alongside Noakes, with the phrase 'Get down, Shep!' becoming a catchphrase. He appeared with Noakes in the TV series 'Go With Noakes' and was a popular figure on British television. After Noakes left the show, Shep was cared for by Noakes until shortly thereafter when he went to live with Edith Menzies. Shep passed away in 1987.
