Shigeko Nishio, born on December 6, 1935, in Tokyo, is a prominent Japanese science historian and an emeritus professor at Nihon University. She specializes in the history of physics and earned her Ph.D. in science from Nagoya University in 1974. Nishio has worked as a researcher at the Japan Science and Technology Agency and has taught at Nihon University until her retirement in 2006. In 2012, she received the 15th Kuwahara Takeo Academic Prize for her biography on Jun Ishihara and was honored with the Order of the Sacred Treasure, Silver and Gold Rays in 2015.
