Born on December 31, 1956, in Bobo-Dioulasso, he is a member of the ruling CDP party. Before his election, Ouattara held various public offices and succeeded Roch Marc Kaboré. He was elected as President of the National Assembly during the inaugural session on December 28, 2012, with 96 out of 127 votes, while his opponent Denis Nikiéma received 30 votes from the opposition.
