Stavros Benos is a Greek surveyor-engineer and politician born on December 30, 1947. He served as the Mayor of Kalamata from 1978 to 1990 and as a Member of Parliament for Messinia from 1990 to 2004 and for B' Athens from 2004 to 2007. He held roles as Deputy Minister of Culture under Andreas Papandreou's last government and as Minister of Culture, Minister of Aegean, and Deputy Minister of Public Administration under Costas Simitis. He founded Citizen Service Centers and is currently the president of the DiAZOMA association, focusing on the preservation of ancient theaters.
