Ing. Štefan Zachariaš, also known as István Zachariaš, was born on February 20, 1953, in Košice. Since 2001, he has been a member of the Košice Self-Governing Region Assembly and served as the mayor of Moldava nad Bodvou from 1990 to 2014. He is a member of the Hungarian Coalition Party and was elected to the county assembly in 2001. In the 2002 local elections, he won the mayoral position for Moldava nad Bodvou and was re-elected to the regional assembly in 2005.
