Steve Upton is a former drummer and founding member of the rock band Wishbone Ash, known for his precise drumming style which was a key element of the band's sound. He played with the group from 1969 to 1990 and was one of the first drummers to use an open position technique. Upton also managed the band's affairs during certain periods, earning him the nickname 'Colonel.' He left the band in 1990 to lead a quieter life.
