Subramania Ranganathan (1934–2016), commonly known as Ranga, was an esteemed Indian bioorganic chemist and a professor at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, where he also chaired the department of chemistry. His research focused on synthetic and mechanistic organic chemistry. Ranganathan was a distinguished fellow of the Indian National Science Academy, the National Academy of Sciences, India, and the Indian Academy of Sciences. In 1977, he received the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for Science and Technology, recognizing his significant contributions to the field of chemical sciences.
