Suzanne Saueressig (February 4, 1924 - February 8, 2013) was the first practicing female veterinarian in Missouri. Born in Nuremberg, Germany, she graduated from veterinary school at the University of Munich in 1953 as the only woman in her class. She worked at the Missouri Humane Society, improving veterinary standards, and became its executive director in 1965. Her contributions to animal welfare included advocating for spaying and neutering pets and writing a column in a local newspaper to educate the community. She received the American Veterinary Medical Association's Veterinarian of the Year award in 1972.
