Svend Hersleb Rønning (born May 18, 1919) is a Norwegian author notable for his contributions to literature, including novels, short stories, and drama. Rønning grew up in Oslo and later studied literature abroad. He started an advertising agency during WWII and was involved in the resistance. His literary debut in 1960 earned him Gyldendal's prize. Throughout his career, he has written thirteen books influenced by his travels, particularly in South America. Active in Norwegian literary circles, he was also a board member of P.E.N. Norway.
