He played college and CFL football before becoming the colour commentator for the CFL's BC Lions and the NHL's Vancouver Canucks, where he worked for many years. After a lengthy 45-year career in broadcasting, including 27 seasons covering the Canucks, he concluded his career with his final game on October 9, 2010, marking the start of the 2010-11 season.
