Thomas N. Wiesner, nicknamed 'Big Dog', was an influential American politician and businessman who made significant contributions to Nevada's political landscape. A former football player for the Wisconsin Badgers, he became the youngest member of the Clark County Commission at age 31. Wiesner owned the Marina Hotel, which transformed into the MGM Grand, and established Big Dog's Hospitality Group. He served as Nevada's Republican National Committeeman and was elected to the Board of Regents for the State Higher Education System. Wiesner was honored posthumously for his achievements in sports and politics.
