José Géal, known by his stage name Toone VII, is a Belgian director, actor, and owner of the Royal Puppet Theatre Toone. Born on March 11, 1931, he is a professional puppeteer who founded the Theatre des Enfants in 1954, Belgium's first professional puppet theater. Géal gained recognition in the 1960s for creating puppet mini-series and became the president of the international puppeteers' union. He led the Toone theatre with large, detailed puppets and expanded its popularity through multilingual performances. He retired in 2003 and received the Order of Leopold I in 2004.
