Unto Valtanen (29 May 1929 – 28 February 1989) was a Finnish civil engineer and managing director of the Helsinki Metro Office, responsible for the construction of the Helsinki Metro. He was convicted in the 1980s for accepting bribes in what is known as the 'Metro scandal.' After various positions in the city's transportation sector, he was dismissed in 1982 due to bribery allegations. Valtanen was sentenced to prison in 1987 for accepting significant bribes from Siemens AG. He died from food poisoning while on vacation in the Canary Islands.
