He specializes in numerical methods for solving mathematical physics problems and computational modeling in engineering, primarily in laser physics and nonlinear optics. Volkov obtained his Ph.D. in 1988 and was awarded the title of Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences in 2001. Currently, he is a professor at the Department of Numerical Methods and Programming, contributing extensively to scientific and public activities, and has published numerous research articles in his field.
