Vasyl Terentiyovych Halyas (1921–2006) was a Ukrainian historian and bibliographer, notably serving as a senior laboratory assistant at the Department of History of Ukraine at Odesa I. I. Mechnikov National University. Born in Zhuravno in 1921, he later relocated to Odesa. Halyas served in the Red Army during World War II and resumed his studies post-war, eventually working in academia. He authored over 30 scientific works, contributed to notable encyclopedic publications, and specialized in local studies, significantly engaging with historical correspondence during his career.
