Veronika Fedorovna Shlygina (born February 12, 1927 in Almaty) is a candidate of geological-mineralogical sciences (1964) and served as the Minister of Geology of the Kazakh SSR. She graduated from the Kazakh Mining and Metallurgy Institute in 1950. Over her career, she worked as a technical leader in hydrogeological teams and held positions at the Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan. She contributed to the exploration and confirmation of major underground water resources in Kazakhstan and is the author of over 160 scientific publications and 12 monographs.
