Viktor Japiashvili (June 20, 1924 – August 7, 2015) was a Georgian astrophysicist and professor at Tbilisi State University. He founded the research on polarimetric methods of studying solar system objects in Georgia. Alongside Anatoli Korol, he created and published the 'Polarimetric Atlas of the Moon' in 1982. For this work, he received the highest award in astronomy from the USSR Academy of Sciences in 1984. He served as the deputy director of the Abastumani Astrophysical Observatory from 1957 to 1992 and led the Observatory's lunar and planetary department.
