Vince Cable (born May 9, 1943) is a British politician who served as leader of the Liberal Democrats from 2017 to 2019. He was the Member of Parliament for Twickenham from 1997 to 2015 and again from 2017 to 2019. He held the position of Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills from 2010 to 2015. A trained economist, he has worked in various capacities, including as an economic advisor in Kenya and a lecturer at the University of Glasgow. He led the party to its best electoral performance since 2010 in May 2019.
