Vladimir Anatolyevich Nikitin (1944-2015) was a Russian historian of photography, scholar, teacher, and photojournalist. He authored a series of photo albums documenting the history of St. Petersburg. For over twenty years, he headed the Department of Journalism at St. Petersburg State University, transforming it into the Department of Visual Journalism and Design of Periodicals. Nikitin held lectures and taught in various universities in the USA and Europe. He was a curator of numerous exhibitions and became a member of the Union of Russian Photographic Artists in 1995.
