Walter Henß (1927–2006) was a German librarian and church historian. He studied German, English, Latin, and philosophy at the University of Marburg from 1946, later receiving his doctorate. He held teaching positions at Marburg and Cologne, while also working at the University Library Marburg. From 1956 to 1990, he served at the University Library Heidelberg, specializing in theology and philosophy. Henß was appointed honorary professor in 1980, focusing on church history, early biblical tradition in the Germanic linguistic area, the history of the Reformation, library science, and 20th-century graphic art, particularly engraving.
