William H. Beaver, born in 1940, is a prominent accounting researcher and educator, recognized as the Joan E. Horngren Professor of Accounting, Emeritus, at Stanford University. He began his academic career at the University of Chicago. Beaver served as president of the American Accounting Association from 1979 to 1981. In 1989, he earned the Seminal Contributions in Accounting Literature Award for his influential 1968 article. Additionally, he received the Outstanding Accounting Educator Award in 1990 and was inducted into the Accounting Hall of Fame in 1996.
