Zelma Wyche (1918–1999) was a notable African-American World War II veteran, civil rights activist, and politician. Wyche served as the police chief of Tallulah from 1969 for eleven years and was later elected mayor in 1986. He gained recognition for his efforts against racial segregation, particularly after being featured in Ebony Magazine in 1970, highlighting the challenges in a region with KKK activity.
