Zenzō Shimizu (May 13, 1931 - July 16, 2012) was a Japanese scholar of Buddhist art history and an emeritus professor at Kyoto University. He was born in Shizuoka Prefecture and graduated from Kyoto University's Faculty of Letters in 1958, completing a doctoral course in 1963. He served as an assistant and then an associate professor, becoming a full professor in 1980, and retiring in 1995. He is known for his research on Heian period sculpture.
