Christoph Magirius, born on February 20, 1937, in Meerane, is a Protestant Lutheran pastor and former superintendent. He studied theology at Martin Luther University Halle from 1955 to 1960. He served as a pastor in various communities near Leipzig, became a student pastor in Leipzig, and later served as superintendent in Karl-Marx-Stadt. He was instrumental during the 1989/1990 peaceful transition in East Germany, co-organizing the 'Round Table' dialogue. In recognition of his contributions, he was made an honorary citizen of Chemnitz on October 3, 1990.
