Ülkü Tamer (February 20, 1937 – April 1, 2018) was a Turkish poet, storyteller, and literary translator. He graduated from the prestigious Robert College in Istanbul and subsequently attended the Journalism Institute. Active as a poet since around 1954, Tamer was known for his surprising imagery and was associated with the Second New Movement in Turkish poetry. Besides poetry, he worked in various roles including actor, editor, lecturer, and translator. His notable translations include works by authors such as Grimm, Steinbeck, and a Turkish edition of Harry Potter.
