Dion George is a member of the National Assembly of South Africa for the Democratic Alliance (DA) and currently serves as the Minister of Forestry, Fisheries, and the Environment. He served as the DA Shadow Minister of Finance from 2014 to 2015 and has been a member of the DA's leadership, including roles on the federal finance committee and the Federal Council. He was elected to the Johannesburg City Council in 2006 and became a Member of the National Assembly in January 2008, being re-elected in 2009 and 2014. He resigned in May 2015 but returned to Parliament in November 2018 as a permanent delegate for the Western Cape.
