Elmer Wilson Lower was an American journalist, notable for serving as president of ABC News from 1963 to 1974. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Missouri in 1933. He worked in various newspapers focusing on political news before leading ABC News, where he oversaw significant growth in staff and programming. Lower was instrumental in hiring famous journalists and received a lifetime achievement Emmy award in 1975. He later joined the faculty of his alma mater, serving as dean in the early 1980s. Lower passed away at age 98.
