Liu Hsia, also known by her pen name Hsinglintzu, was a Taiwanese writer born on February 28, 1942. After being diagnosed with atrophic arthritis at age 12, she faced significant challenges but became an advocate for the disabled. Liu founded the Eden Social Welfare Foundation in 1982 and was recognized for her social service contributions, receiving the Wu San-lien Award. She also served as a national policy adviser in 2001. Liu passed away in 2003 due to complications from an incident with her caregiver, which highlighted issues regarding labor protections for foreign caregivers.
