John Peet is a British journalist and author, born on 8 May 1954. He serves as the political editor of The Economist and previously held the position of Europe editor from 2003 to 2015. An expert on European affairs, Peet has authored special reports on various subjects relating to Europe. He graduated with an MA in Economics from St John's College, Cambridge, in 1975. His notable works include the book 'Unhappy Union', co-written with Anton La Guardia, published in 2014. He has a background as a civil servant and is based in London and Wiltshire.
