José María Millares Sall was a Spanish poet and composer born on January 28, 1921, in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. He became known for popular songs in the Canary Islands, including 'Campanas de Vegueta' and 'De Belingo'. He grew up in an artistic family and began his literary career despite the interruptions of the Spanish Civil War. Millares published numerous poetry collections, including 'Sillas,' which won him the Tomás Morales Poetry Prize in 1998. He passed away on September 8, 2009, recognized for his significant contribution to Canarian literature.
