Josefina Gómez Mendoza, born on June 1, 1942, is a Spanish geographer, writer, and emeritus professor. She served as the rector of the National University of Distance Education (UNED) from 2001 to 2005. On February 8, 2002, she was elected as a member of the Royal Academy of History, officially assuming her role on April 27, 2003, holding medal number 7. She was also elected to the Royal Academy of Engineering, taking up her position on March 21, 2006, with medal number 58.
