Simeon Kirilov Mihailov (Monkata) was a Bulgarian fighter pilot who died during a combat mission defending Sofia in World War II. He was born on January 28, 1921, in Balchik, Romania, and served in the 6th Fighter Regiment. His aircraft crashed near Malo Buchino while engaging in combat against American bombers on January 10, 1944. After his death, he was posthumously promoted to captain, and his memory is honored with several memorials, including a monument in Sofia and a commemorative plaque in his hometown.
