Vasiliy Nikolaevich Chelpanov was a Soviet pilot born on March 12, 1918, in Kholm, Pskov Province. He served as a lieutenant and deputy commander of an air squadron during World War II. He was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union for his bravery and service. Chelpanov died on November 27, 1941, in the Oryol Oblast, making the ultimate sacrifice for his country during the war.
