Valeriy Mikhailovich Tarasov was a Soviet and Russian painter, born on April 12, 1942, in Moscow. He was honored as a distinguished artist of the Russian Federation in 1998 and earned a Ph.D. in Art History in 1999. Tarasov served as a professor at the Moscow State University of Design and Technology from 2000 to 2007. Additionally, he was a member of the State Duma of the Russian Federation from 1995 to 1999 and an academician of the Russian Academy of Arts in 2007. He passed away on May 13, 2019, in Moscow.
