Sir Roderick Douglas Macdonald (1921-2001) was a British Vice Admiral in the Royal Navy, known for his service as Chief of Staff of NATO's Allied Naval Forces Southern Europe from 1976 to 1979. A naval officer since 1939, he served in both World Wars and rose through the ranks, commanding various vessels and forces. He was honored with the titles of Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) and Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire (KBE). Besides his military career, Macdonald was also an accomplished painter and involved in the British lighthouse authority.
