Ryūichi Shibuya (born February 23, 1930) is a Japanese economic historian and professor emeritus at Kozu University. Born in Tokyo, he completed his doctoral course at Waseda University in 1957. He received his doctorate in economics from Tohoku University in 1965 for his research on the development of capitalism and high-interest lending. He served as a researcher at the Ministry of Agriculture and later as an associate professor and professor at Kozu University until his retirement in 2000, focusing on the history of financial industries in Japan.
