Seigō Tanimoto was a Japanese researcher and translator in children's literature, born on February 15, 1939. He served as an emeritus professor at Kanto Gakuin University and earned a Doctorate in Literature from Tsukuba University in 2004. His doctoral thesis focused on the styles and expressions in folktales and children's literature. Tanimoto was also the president of the Japan British Children's Literature Association from 1998 to 2004. He is survived by his son, Michiya Tanimoto, a researcher in physiology.
