Sergio Vitier García-Marruz was a Cuban composer and guitarist born on January 18, 1948, in Havana and passed away on May 1, 2016. He was the son of noted poets Cintio Vitier and Fina García-Marruz. Vitier studied at music institutions in Havana and was a member of the experimental music group at ICAIC, led by Leo Brouwer. He worked as a guitarist, concert soloist, and teacher, and co-led the group Oru, blending classical, jazz, and Afro-Cuban music.
