Walter Ferreira was a Portuguese footballer born on February 28, 1942, in Porto Alexandre, Angola. He primarily played as a forward and was a youth international for Portugal. Having started his career at Sporting, he later joined Volendam in 1971, becoming the first foreign player and the first Portuguese to score in the Eredivisie. He was the club's top scorer in his second season with 11 goals. After a brief stint in Germany, he returned to Portugal and retired in 1981, later taking various roles at Vitória SC in the 1980s.
