Yoshiko Nishida was a prominent Japanese children's literature researcher born on February 5, 1931, in Omuta, Fukuoka. She graduated from Kumamoto University in 1954, focusing her thesis on children's literature. Following her marriage to linguist Naotomi Nishida, she settled in Sapporo in 1965. Throughout her career, she taught as a part-time lecturer at various universities and later held significant positions, including professor at Otani University. Nishida published extensively on children's literature and received the Japan Children's Literature Society Special Award in 2010.
