E. Gwyndaf Evans, born on March 7, 1913, was a Welsh minister and poet. He gained prominence when he won the Inter-Collegiate Eisteddfod in 1934 and secured the Chair at the National Eisteddfod in Caernarfon in 1935, making him the youngest ever winner. He served as Archdruid from 1966 to 1968 and was a schoolteacher at Ysgol Brynrefail from 1957 to 1978. Though he only published one volume of poetry, 'Magdalen and other poems', he contributed regularly to Welsh magazines throughout his life.
